Received last minute news yesterday that I won a pair of tickets to the movie premier of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, which was on the night itself. I was excited, then i started to panic because i didnt know anyone who would be interested in watching this with me; especially with the Battleship/ Avengers action hype going on. until i remembered Yingli~~! The last show we watched together was the really depressing sombre Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close (can't emphasize how dark and solemn and sullen the whole show was, and our really crappy moods after the show, in addition to getting back our A level results...) so this would be a nice change. I thought i had to ask Yingli not to judge the movie by its title but thank goodness she knew what this show was about phew, because all the reactions i got/ comments i read weren't too... encouraging.

1. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
The title itself sounds like some R-movie. it must be the words "exotic" and "hotel" in the same line. The movie however, is far from being rated. Besides the single F-word and kamasutra references.

2. It is set in India
India.. hahaha my initial reaction was oh no.. what sort of self-discovery can you make in india? but the show changed everything. in fact now i feel like going to india because it seems bustling with funky indians every where; performing the drums, haggling in markets, thick accents and lots and lots and lots and lots of vibrant colors.

3. The casts are old (and most I never heard of before)
But that's only because we're born decades after them. They are veterans. Their acting were superb. Some of them were even quite pretty. The tall and lanky old man was pretty endearing even~

This is such a light, happy film which takes one through the sights and sounds of India. It is also quite special to see how love works between much older couples. Nothing too sappy, too draggy, too needy. It was indeed a good show.

After the movie, Yingli and I bought sushi which were going for half price and we stood next to the counter to eat and i felt like i was in japan. huddling in one corner, trying to tear open the plastic with skill so that the seaweed doesnt get soggy, and it was late and there were people breezing past us yet we werent caught up in the hustle and bustle this IS life. i imagine ourselves wrapped in knitted scarves with our matching knitted beanies in the cold winter hahaha.

Anyway, these few days at work has been really slack which im not complaining of at all. I was so bored the past two days that i read up on film cameras, and then lomography again and on a wimp, i ordered a $150 La Sardina film camera online. It's from overseas though, so i really hope it comes safely soon. im really excited to use it, but at the same time im kinda worried about it not arriving.. $150......... :/ till it arrives, i wont buy any film yet. which brings me to sighpai#2. i cant imagine how much im going to spend developing the film zzz better be allll worth it!
